A leisurely lunch at Ralph’s in Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a must whenever we escape to Paris. The restaurant, on the ground floor of the beautiful Ralph Lauren boutique that takes up the whole of a majestic townhouse in the 6th arrondissement, combines American style with the refined allure of Paris’ Rive Gauche.
The Ralph Lauren brand was built around the image of an elite American lifestyle. With luxurious stores all around the world and spectacular flagship boutiques in major metropolis – the one in New York at 888 Madison Avenue being my absolute favorite, pure unabashed luxury, refinement and elegance – Ralph Lauren also thought up a fitting line of restaurants.
In New York (The Polo Bar), Chicago (RL), London (Ralph’s Coffee & Bar) and Paris (Ralph’s Restaurant & Bar), each dining establishment features the aesthetic of the brand to become a natural extention of the world of Ralph Lauren.
In the courtyard of Ralph’s in Paris, the careful mix of vintage and modern fabrics, weathered teak and wrought iron, and the large banquettes covered in cushions lend a sophisticated charm to the place. The main dining room is warm and elegant with wood beams, worn leather and limestone. A large countryside landscape painting on the fireplace mantle, saddle racks, iron sconces and tea light votives create a tasteful and romantic equestrian atmosphere. The perfect mix of classic American 1940s and Big Band-era music plays throughout the day and evening.
“I want it to be the best restaurant of its kind in Paris, offering great American food in the most beautiful and romantic setting. It has gracious hospitality with a glamorous yet informal sophistication.” Ralph Lauren
Ralph’s menu is an ode to the rich and varied flavors of America: Maine’s lobster, Maryland-style crab cake, specialty burgers, and tenderloin and strip steaks produced in Ralph Lauren’s own ranch in Colorado.
Classic cocktails such as mint juleps, whiskey sours, and Ralph Lauren’s favorite margarita are mixed behind the bar and perfectly complement American cuisine. The finest American and French wines are thoughtfully selected to stimulate the palate and complete an wonderful dining experience. She-colibri
